Fifteen years

The best cat, ever.

Saying goodbye was the hardest thing, ever.

Scarflettes

Scarflette

This project should get posted before it's too warm to be talking about it!

A while back, I won a Phydeaux Designs scarflette that was a featured giveaway on Handmade Showcase. I'd only entered my name in a few giveaways so I was excited to win something almost right off the bat, and I was even more thrilled when the scarflette arrived. All the items in the shop are gorgeous; I would love to make such wonderful knits.

Here's my attempt at a scarflette. I made it at the last minute for a friend's birthday since she had been admiring mine.

Scarflette

It turned out kind of big and floppy but she loves it and that's what matters.

I'm hoping to make more of these, but I think we all know how I feel about buttons.

Inauguration 2009

Busy work day

We all took a few minutes to watch during work. Couldn't resist!

First birthday

Right before the winter break, Sheyna brought the baby to work for a few hours on her birthday. I knew ahead of time, and made sure I had my camera to get a few pictures.

She's a fun baby...I think I've only seen her unhappy a few times (like when she had to try beets!).

The Corrugator

The Corrugator

This doesn't count as a project for 2009, but I wanted to share it anyway. It's a scarf I made for a friend's mom--she made me some cute dish towels for Halloween and I wanted to give something back.

The Corrugator pattern was really easy and fun. The scarf came out pretty thick and will be good for keeping warm, which means there's really no use for it around here.

As always, the knitting didn't take too long, but weaving in the ends caused the project to come to a hault for a week or so. That part always gets me.

Happy new year

I can't promise that I will blog more in 2009, but I'd really like to. I also want to stick to my plan from last year to make at least one crafty item each month. That lasted, what, two months? Let's see...I'll try taking a picture a day too, and I'll get back into creating my journal calendar pages because those are pretty fun.

Merry Christmas

The tree didn't want to cooperate, so this is the best shot I could get:

Ethel the Bowling Elf

Ethel the Elf

This is one of my coworkers. She's dressed up as Ethel the Elf.

Ethel the Elf

She dresses up every year for our office party. She brings goofy toys for everyone that she picks up from the dollar store. This year Ethel brough lovely hair extensions for the ladies and styrofoam swords for the guys.

Ethel the Elf

Ethel has a high pitched voice and likes to dance. I made a comment about her bowling shoes and got yelled at. "I AM ETHEL THE BOWLING ELF, DUH!" The hat she was wearing played music and flopped from side to side, Ethel danced every time the music started.

Get well soon!

This was a poorly organized group shot. I was trying to get a quick picture to send to a coworker who has been sick lately and ended up missing the office party. This is one of my most favorite pictures ever now. Everyone looks so goofy.

Fickle Fay

Ken and I went out to Navarre Beach this past weekend to visit with a friend's family that's here on vacation. The heavy amount of rain forecast for Tropical Storm Fay never showed up, but it did get a little windy. It was good news for us and we spent the afternoon swimming in the pool even though we were freezing cold.

I tried my best to get a good picture of this rainbow:

Right before we were leaving, storm clouds rolled in and ruined my chances of getting a great sunset shot!

Vickie's birthday

I made these earrings for my friend Vickie's birthday:

She wore the blue ones the day I gave them to her, but I don't know if she'll ever wear the white and black flowers. They're a little big. Oh well.

More pictures

Here are a few more pictures from the baseball game!

Out to the ball game

Went to a baseball game last weekend and spent most of the time chatting and complaining about the heat. The sun was out in full force which made it hard for me to take pictures. I am trying my best to get the hang of exposure with digital; it's much more difficult than I imagined!

Here are some shots of Shreese with the baby--they're overexposed, but still cute!

Baby blues

Besides the kitties, this baby is my favorite model! I just love her eyes.

She does this cute thing when she's relaxed, like she's just kicking back in a recliner and resting her hands behind her head:

Isn't she a cutie?!

Open House

Our Open House was so much fun this year--I dressed in colonial costuming for the event, and participated in contra dancing! The only bad thing was the HEAT! I would not have enjoyed living in colonial Pensacola one bit! At least we were able to take breaks in the air conditioning.

First, pictures of the girls cooking:

Fiesta Days

The annual Fiesta Prayer Service is held the first Saturday in June at Old Christ Church. It's easiest if I assign myself to work the event, and this year I decided to bring my camera to get some shots of Don Tristan de Luna, his queen, and the knights and princesses. Unfortunately, I couldn't get in a good position--all the mothers of the kids in the children's court were there and I didn't want to block anyone's view.
